Soothing Streams
30 September - 3 October 2021
Art Hub Studios
Coinciding with World Rivers Day, Soothing Streams responded to the Deptford Creek in South London enacting a re-encounter between visitors and local water.
While anchored in the local context, the show simultaneously spoke to global concerns of climate justice, and enabled neglected stories of water pollution and urban rivers stewardship to resurface.
Mediating an exchange between art intervention and community celebration, the group of interdisciplinary artists reflected on contemporary water concerns, shorelines and migration.
The exhibition opening featured a performance directed by Nora Bzheta, activated by Iris Athanasiadi with sound designed by W. Kacper Werkowicz.
Curated by Berta Zubrickaite and Alexia Pierre.
The exhibition visual identity was conceived by Jules Estèves.
With in-kind support from Asahi and Land & Water.
